We envision a world where dark beers are no longer systematically overlooked, misunderstood, or dismissed in favor of lighter, louder alternatives.
For too long, stouts, porters, and other dark styles have been unfairly judged—labeled “too heavy,” “too intense,” or “not for this weather.” These narratives persist despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
This is still about defunding bad beer opinions.
BlackBeersMatter.com exists to champion dark beers — stouts, porters, and other malt-forward brews that have been pushed aside by tap lists dominated by light lagers and endlessly duplicated IPAs. We advocate for proper pours, appropriate glassware, year-round availability, and respect for beers with real depth and character.
At the same time, the name is intentionally satirical. Black Beers Matter borrows the language and symbolism of modern protest culture to poke fun at performative activism, slogan politics, and the tendency to turn everything into a movement. Our target is not people, but the culture of outrage, branding, and virtue signaling that surrounds us.
This is a place for stout drinkers and humor appreciators alike — where we can celebrate great beer, mock beer trends, and laugh at ourselves along the way.
Because some things are worth standing up for — like a properly poured pint.
